Daily Obedience

Wayne Cordeiro

One of the things that can easily destroy us is that we don't listen to the Holy Spirit's leading. When your family starts to crash it takes you three months to repair the infection, whereas if you'd obeyed it would have saved you many months. I cannot tell you how important it is to daily obey Jesus.

Proverbs 3:1 & 2 My son, do not forget my teaching, But let your heart keep my commandments; For length of days and years of life, And peace they will add to you.

In this verse it is clearly stated, that if you will obey His commands years of life will be added to you. He'll actually give you time.

Proverbs 4: 10 Hear, my son, and accept my sayings, And the years of your life will be many.

The Lord is saying, that if you'll hear what He's saying to you and you follow Him in obedience, He'll add years to your life. Wow! Does that mean that you'll live to be 120? No! What He is saying is that He's going to give you more time in the same years that He has given you. He's saying, "I'm going to add years to your life. I won't expand your life; I'm just going to add years to it." Isn't that cool. He'll add years to your life. He'll help you to understand the importance of obedience.

I enjoy filming Kauai's Senior softball games. This year there are 8 teams. The rosters are full with young boys disguised as 55-81 year old players who still enjoy playing a game that they started at the age of 5. One of the questions I ask each player is who is your favorite player, a hand full say Mickey mantle others: Jackie Robinson..Wally moon..Willie Mays others talk about the Polo fields of San Francisco and Brooklyn Dodgers field in New Jersey. I had to ask myself this question as well,it was hard for me to narrow it down, I worked for the Dodgers.. I guess it could be Koufax, Drysdale,Fernando, Hershisher--etc.. I guess I don't have favorite players I have memories of many players from my employment in the 60"s to my last game in 85. However, if you ask me who are my most memorable men of God I would say Dr. Eno and Dr. Duffield. Mighty men of God who gave their all during my time at L.I.F.E Bible College. What's my point? these men were well into their 70's, because of their obedience, they were able to mature in the wisdom of God and teach the younger generations of Truths that produce a lasting faith in Christ. I believe that our life can be lengthen to bless others, not only at Bible Colleges but within our families, children, grandchildren etc... It's exciting to see the senior men play ball, they truly have a passion for the game. it is my prayer that as people watch me serve the Lord that they will also see the passion and joy and perhaps say," I can't wait to join the the senior league for Christ." Thank you Pastor Wayne for reminding me to lengthen my days through obedience. My favorite player is Jesus. In Christ Michael Alonzo
